The program
Buzzcuts was our first program, in October 2002. The "daily dose of fresh Fringe reviews" was put together with Express Media and had its counterparts on the web, on radio and in print.
Each of the reviews were written by Express Media volunteers and delivered by em'ers Simon Bowyer, Maryanne Georgey and Richard Watts. Crew from Arts Community Television comprised Dave Trueman and Ralph Mclean.
Building on the experience of 2002, Express Media and Arts Community Television reworked the format and produced a series of reviews bringing the total episodes to 26. The Buzzcuts team for 2003 comprised Andrew Carter, Courtney Collins, Harmony Pearce and Tara Strong. Crew comprised Sam Spalding and Ralph Mclean.
In 2003, we were more ambitious and we not only reviewed shows and events which were a part of the Fringe Festival but caught up with parts of the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts.
In just two short seasons, Buzzcuts has covered 26 arts events and exhibitions, we've had seven reviewers, we've had five people crew and postproduce, we've had four producers/directors.
Given the response we had to the program, we have developed an ongoing program, Buzz, based on the Buzzcuts experience.
