What is ACTV?

ACTV is Arts Community Television Incorporated, a community media group established on 19 August 2002 by arts and community media producers, artists and others to promote arts and cultural media production and programming. We are a member of Melbourne Community Television Consortium Ltd., C31 Melbourne and Victoria.

What is community TV?

Community TV is television produced by and for the community television stations or their members and broadcast on one of C31 Melbourne and Victoria, Brisbane, Lismore, Sydney, Mt Gambier, Adelaide and Perth.

What is community media?

Community media takes in community television, community radio and the rest of the not-for-profit media with a community base in Australia. Our history as a production group is based on our experience in community television, but our members include people with an extensive background in community radio, the web and print media.

What is ACTV?

ACTV is a collection of people making programs about the arts for community television and the web. Our President is Paul Baines and our Secretary is Ralph Mclean. They are contactable at paul@artzmedia.net and ralph@artzmedia.net.

What sorts of programs does ACTV make?

We began with Yartz, a program covering all of the arts and culture in Melbourne in one way or another. It's broadcast on Thursdays at 10.00 pm and repeated at midnight on Sundays. Our daily program is the review-in-a-minute program Buzz, broadcast four times at midday, 6 pm, 11.30 pm and 1.00 am. We've had others and we're planning more.

How does the group work?

We're a community organisation with rules and a grievance procedure (though we've not had any grievances in our first three years!) There's a membership form here too. And a friends form for supporters.

Who is ACTV?

We come from a whole range of backgrounds. You can get an idea of who we are by checking out our talent.
